On the afternoon of November 24, 2024, the final of the 4th Guangdong Hong Kong Macao University Public Governance Data Analysis Competition, jointly organized by the School of Politics and Public Affairs Management of Sun Yat sen University, the China Public Management Research Center of Sun Yat sen University, the Department of Public and International Affairs of City University of Hong Kong, and the Data Science Research Center of the University of Macau, was held at D119, the building of the School of Politics and Public Affairs Management of Sun Yat sen University. Ten teams from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau are fully prepared and showcasing their talents.
Associate Professor Liu Ning from the Department of Public Policy at City University of Hong Kong, Associate Professor Yu Lianghao, Director of the Data Science Research Center at the University of Macau, and Associate Professors Chen Na, Cai Rong, and Liu Zejin from the School of Political and Public Affairs Management at Sun Yat sen University served as judges for this competition.

At the beginning of the competition, Associate Professor Chen Na, Assistant Dean of the School of Politics and Public Affairs Management at Sun Yat sen University, warmly welcomed the guests and participants from universities in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. Associate Professor Chen Na reviewed the development process of this competition and hoped that students could unleash their creativity in this competition, explore the path of empowering public governance with information, and showcase the achievements of young students for the optimization of public governance in the new era and the construction of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area.
Associate Professor Liu Ning from the Department of Public Policy at City University of Hong Kong expressed his expectations for using digital information technology to build an age friendly society in the digital age, and affirmed the clever creativity and rigorous analysis of the contestants’ competition works. He hoped that the students could closely follow the pulse of the times and use innovative thinking and teamwork to better demonstrate their understanding of intergenerational harmony in the finals. Associate Professor Yu Lianghao, Director of the Data Science Research Center at the University of Macau, first thanked the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao University Student Public Governance Data Analysis Competition for providing a platform for academic exchanges among different universities in the three regions, actively facing and improving social problems through digital governance. At the same time, he expressed the hope to use the power of science to gradually alleviate the impact of aging on the economy and society, and looked forward to students exchanging and understanding each other and gaining something from this competition.
Team presentation and defense session
This competition focuses on building an age friendly society, aiming to achieve comprehensive social inclusiveness and intergenerational integration through innovative applications of digital technology, with the theme of promoting the application of digital technology in an aging society, and encouraging students to pay attention to the effective combination of digital technology and public governance. Ten teams respectively discussed various topics such as digital divide, electronic medical records, digital feedback, aging friendly construction of government portal websites, intergenerational inclusive development, elderly care for the disabled, and fall detection for the elderly, based on machine learning and TAM technology acceptance models Analyze and study various technical methods such as Apriori algorithm and interaction effect model.
The competition is divided into two parts: team presentation and defense. In the team presentation session, participants from each team presented solid and professional content, as well as multidimensional research results of value.
In the defense stage, the judges provided professional suggestions, which greatly benefited the students. In a tense and intense atmosphere, the team presentation and defense session ended smoothly.
